My buddy Manny, someone that’s been teaching me a lot of things at my gym, recommended me to do push-ups rather than benching. He asked me this, “In real life, when are you ever going to bench something off of you? Maybe if a car rolled over you but, let’s be realistic, you won’t be able to do that. When you’re waking up from sleeping, what do you do? You push yourself up from bed. Or think of it like this, whenever you’re on the ground, you’re always going to be pushing yourself up. So why would you want to train for something that you’re not going to be doing in your everyday life?“
